Cloud, what cloud?

Oh, that cloud!

It was advertised all day, but still interesting as it came through. 40 to 45 knots briefly. Still not fun when you are against a lee wharf. Broke one of our barge board lines, which added some urgency.

Now we just have rain, and I have half our widow screws out - today's job half done...

Welcome to Queenscliff

We got to Queenscliff at 8:30 pm on Sunday 22nd of February.

 It is really fun.

The villiage is just a row away.

I have been there more then once.

Our tree fort

Aiming high

Yesterday we built a tree fort. It was so high maybe a little too high because we had to take it down because of health and safety reasons.
(still the best fort the best view but never mind)

Where are we Wednesday?

Queenscliff Cruising Yacht Club,  Swan Island, VIC.  Enjoying the tranquility of a deserted island all to ourselves!

Sunday 22 February 2015

And we're off!

Busy day replacing batteries which choose this moment to die, stuffing the boat with remaining items which will need sorting out in Queenscliff, and a great send-off from HBYC.

Then an interesting sail down the bay thorough thunder and lightning and squalls from random directions. Our new wind instrument read 180 knots at one stage, but that seemed to have more to do with lightning than wind!

Anyway, I had a much longer post written in blogger, but that piece of crap crashed and took my half hour of work with it, so here are some photos... Will try to pay more tomorrow...

Thursday 19 February 2015

Nearly time to leave...

Are you still here?

Thought you'd be gone by now?

When are you leaving?

Yes,  we did too, soon!

Leaving drinks are planned for tomorrow night (HBYC from 5pm, BYO snacks /dinner) so it must be happening!

The kids have spent a few days this week back at Newport Lakes Primary School, catching up with friends, getting to know their NLPS class and teachers. This has been great for all... Kids get to touch base with mates & parents get to work unimpeded. Big thanks to NLPS making this possible.

Monday 16 February 2015

Finally, we go sailing...!

Just a shake down over to St Kilda, but at least it was a sail.

Some nice photos taken by Andrew from Ghost Dog, another Adams 36 from Hobson's Bay, who we happened to meet in the middle of the bay on our way home. Many thanks Andrew!

School is in session

Boat school, that is. Topic of enquiry is the history of Williamstown. School started at 8am with a compulsory swim, followed by PE and breakfast on the dock. Lovely!

Wednesday 4 February 2015

Pay up or cut up!

Our yacht club, the Hobson's Bay Yacht Club, is a warm and friendly place.
See how in this photo the Commodore, Ryan Blackstock, personally deals with the problem of non-payment of hard stand bills.
Now you won't see such personal involvement of the Commodore at most yacht clubs...!
