Where are we Wednesday? #3

Tamar Yacht Club,  Beauty Point, River Tamar, Tasmania
After an exhausting Bass Strait crossing we are finally in Tasmania! We left QCYC just before 5 am on Monday & we were tied up in a pen here by noon Tuesday. A very adventurous sail over.
Winds were stronger than we expected & several of the crew were hit badly by sea sickness. The winds got stronger (instead of lighter as we'd been expecting) so by nightfall we had 2 reefs in the main &  the heady rolled halfway in. Managed to get the kids to bed below for the night. I got a few hours sleep below but mostly we took turns catnapping in the cockpit & keeping a watch out for ships & a gas platform.
I had worried that I hadn't made enough food for the crossing (sandwiches, zucchini muffins, chopped vege, boiled eggs) but we had more than enough. Dry crackers & cucumbers were popular until they reappeared later.... We did manage to eat most of it for lunch & dinner after arriving. Looking forward to a pub meal in the next few days.
Tasmania, so far,  is awesome. Girls & ready to stay here. The river valley looks great for exploring and anchoring. Expect we'll be staying at  the yacht club for a few days before venturing further.

  1. From the earlier post it looks like you guys made a good 7knts average on the way over. Beam reach all the way? Glad to see the first big crossing went alright. If only those forecasts were more accurate!
